Lexington - On Sunday, April 5, 2009, Robert L. Areheart, 81, made the glorious trip home to be with his savior. He was married to Mary Helen Brooks Areheart for 60 years. In 1949 he co-founded Carolina Scales, Inc and was president until he retired in 1992. He was former president of the National Scalesmens Association. He served in the United States Air Force for 2 years and also served in the S.C. National Guard. He was a member of Lexington Masonic Lodge #152. He was a generous, loving man who loved his family, fishing and restoring Ford Model T Cars. Mr. Areheart is survived by his wife, 2 children, Debbie Bell and Bobby Areheart, 3 grandchildren, Angela Bell Docherty (Howard), Michael Bell and Jason Areheart and 3 great-grandchildren who were such a joy to him, Callie, Cameron and Katie. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert T and Ruth Areheart, his son, Aubrey Brooks Areheart, and his beloved dog, Bogie. Funeral service for Mr. Robert Luther Areheart will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.
