MRS. W. GARMS RETURNED HERE FOR BURIAL

Old Time Resident Dies in Oklahoma Home; Funeral Was Large

Mrs. Wm. Garms, who came to America with her parents, first settling in Schaumburg shortly after the close of the Civil war and reared a large family, was brought back to Palatine her old home, Sunday for burial. She had sustained a stroke the preceding Wednesday and died Friday morning. The funeral was held Monday at the chapel and St. Paul's church. In the absence of Rev, Voeks, Rev. Bierbaum, former pastor, officiated.

Elise Garms (nee Kukuk) was born in Hanover, Germany, April 27, 1856; departed this life July 25, 1930, at the age of 74 years, 2 months and 28 days. At the age of 10 years, Mrs. Garms came to America, accompanied by her father and sister and lived in Schaumburg, Ill., until in 1873, when she was united in marriage to William Garms, moving to Palatine, Ill., to make their home until going to Oklahoma in 1901, locating at Loyal where she has resided most of her life with her family, except between 1907 and 1913, when they resided in Palatine.

They were blessed with twelve children, two dying in infancy, one son, Fred, departing in 1925 and Louis in 1929. Mr. Garms preceded her in death in 1913.

There remain to mourn their loss, Will and Henry and Mrs., Lena Devermann of Palatine, Ill.; Herman, Geo. John, Mrs. Mildred Turner and Mrs. Elizabeth Duffy, Loyal, Oklahoma. She united first with the Lutheran church at Palatine, later joining the Evangelical church, of which she was a faithful member until her death. She lived to serve God.

Mrs. Garms' life was one of continuous loving service to her family and loved ones, a life of unselfishness and patience. The good she did and embodied will ever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
