Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, the Rev. Willard F. Carney; daughter, Angela Hope Carney, and her parents the late Silburn Markham and wife Edna Pearl (ALLEN).
She retired from Peoples/ Monumental Life Insurance Company. Mary and her husband, Willard, started multiple churches in the Kanawha, Putnam and Jackson County area. They also founded Prayer and Faith Wesleyan Church Association.
Mary dedicated her life to Christ at age eleven and pursued that calling by evangelizing, ministering, teaching, feeding, serving, and mentoring, those in need. She could play any string instrument, but chose to play the piano for the past 73 years.
One of her pleasures was cooking, and she dedicated that talent to countless church camps, children's camps, mission camps and, one of her favorites, an annual deer hunting camp in Pennsylvania.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Rhea Faith and Dan Hayman of Syracuse, Ohio, William F. and Gail Carney of Charleston, the late Angela Hope Carney, Charity Renee and William Grisanti of Bristol, Va., Robin Danese and Roger McCormick of Charlotte, N.C.;
Grandchildren: Mary Illeen Henley, Tamara Tucker, Brenda Carney, Danielle Lewis, Andrea Dailey, Nicole Freeman and Ivy Grisanti.
Great-grandchildren, Michael Henley, Matthew Henley, Caitlyn Lewis, George Mowery, Laura Lewis, Dylan Freeman, Jaelyn Freeman, Brooklyn Hailey, Paytyn Tucker, and Ceirra Riggs; sisters, Glenna Jones, and Margie Poulsen; brothers, Jimmy Markham, Meredith Markham and Kenny Markham; and numerous friends.
