CUBA--- A retired farmer and lifelong resident of the Cuba vicinity, Roy Deakin, 81, died at 10 a.m. Monday in Canton Nursing Home following an illness of several years.
He was born March 16, 1889, in Cass Township, the son of Justus and Alice (Henderson) Deakin. In 1914 he was married to Nellie B. Churchill in Peoria.
She survives and lives in Phoenix, Ariz. Other survivors include one son, Donald J. Deakin of Cuba; one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Sartoris of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Lee Deakin of Cuba; and one sister, Mrs. Mae Laughery of Canton.
A son, one brother, and two sisters died earlier.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hukill Funeral Chapel, Cuba, with the Rev. Gary Spurgeon officiating. Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
