The subject of this sketch: Mrs. Nora Jane Southard nee Licklider was born near Red Bird, Mo, January 27, 1884, died at Red Bird, MO July 16, 1914, aged 30 years 5 months and 19 days. She was married to Emmet Southard January 1, 1905, and to this union were born 5 children viz: Floyd, Jewel, Clemaletta, Velma and Verlee aged eight, seven, six, four and two years respectively.

Sister Southard professed faith in Christ and united with Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Nov. 24, 1901. On September 30, 1905 she was granted a letter to Avalon, Texas, where she went with her husband to live and was a member at her death. She was a victim of that dreaded disease Consumption but was a patient sufferer never complaining. The funeral sermon was preached by the writer at High Gate, MO July 18. after which her body was tenderly laid to rest in the old cemetery near by to rest in peace till God shall wake the sleeping dust.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, 5 children, mother, Eliza Licklider of Red Bird, Mo, two brothers, William E. and Samuel G., St. James, Mo, and 4 sisters, Ramah E. Noblet, Tacoma, Washington, Sarah F. Welch, High Gate, MO, and Gertha B. and Bertha M. Licklider, Red Bird, MO.
