Richard is the son of William b. 1787 NC and Mary (Cannon or Mendenhall ) Henderson b. 1786 NC.
His siblings were Mary, Catherine, Abbey and Benjamin.
They lived in Newton Georgia in 1850 per the census. By 1860, the family had moved to Marion Alabama.

Richard was married to Nancy Perry and lived in Fayette Alabama per the 1860 census. They had a daughter, Julian and a son Elijah. Richard was a farmer with real estate worth $400 and personal property of $50.
By 1870, Jane, Issac and Wiley had been born. The family still lived in Fayette Ala.
Per his headstone, Richard served in the CSA, however I don't have any information on which unit he served with.
Nancy's mother was Martha Leola Vickery. Nancy died on 3 Nov. 1879 of pneumonia and is buried in Cockerham Cemetery.
Richard married Margaret Honeycutt Harris on Feb. 8, 1891.
