Clara was born with Down's Syndrome. I was told by family members that her parents tried very hard to keep her at home but by the age of 13 they could no longer provide for all her need and that she kept wandering away from home. For her safety, she was placed with the Mexia State Home and School where she lived until her passing in 1965.
