Sikeston - Grover L. Abernathy, 75, of Sikeston died Tuesday at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Zalma, the son of Joseph Samuel and Sarah Elizabeth Phillips Abernathy. He married Eunice Ethelene Bailey Sept. 13, 1941, at Charleston.
He owned Abernathy Lime Co. in Sikeston and was a truck driver. He was a member of the North Acres General Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Leslie Abernathy; a daughter, Patricia Dickie; a brother, Vendol "Joe" Abernathy; a sister, Del DeMent; five grandchildren and two great-granchildren.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
