CLEVELAND — Russell A. Hanson Jr., age 66, of E. Main St., Kingsville, died unexpectedly late Tuesday evening, Jan. 27, 2009, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation after being admitted on Monday.

Born Jan. 27, 1943, in Denmark Township, he was the son of Russell A. and Ruth E. (Abbott) Hanson and has been an Ashtabula County resident all of his life. Mr. Hanson was a Veteran of the U. S. Army.

Taking disability retirement in 1989, he was a heavy equipment operator for 30 years. For a short time, Mr. Hanson was a Realtor with Century 21 Realty.

He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 18 and a member of the both the Jefferson and Ashtabula Eagles Clubs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the casinos and playing the lottery. He was a gifted musician and in his earlier years played with various local bands.

Survivors include his wife, Rosalie (Waid) Hanson, whom he married on May 26, 1984, in Jefferson; a son, Russell A. Hanson Jr. of Akron; two step-sons, Arden B. (Tammy) Lynagh of Andover and Charles J. (Debbi) Lynagh of Cherry Valley Township; three step-grandchildren, Cari, A. J. and Chad Lynagh; a sister, Rebecca A. Hudson of Gainesville, Fla.; and two brothers, Robert A. (Dianna) Hanson and Raymond A. (Bonnie) Hanson, both of Dorset Township.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, at the Jefferson Home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fr. Gregory Fedor, of St. Mary's Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dorset Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be held Friday, Jan. 30th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Dept., 3130 E. Main St., Kingsville, Ohio 44048.
