James Gordon Speir, 91, of Little Rock went to his Heavenly home on March 2, 2008. He was a member of Orion Missionary Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon in Baptist churches for 57 years. He was a World War II veteran serving in the South Pacific as a member of the Army Infantry. Gordon was born March 17, 1916, to Alice and J.H. Speir of East Point, Ga.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Geraldine Speir; three sons, Conrad Speir (Ann) of Redfield, Lamar Speir (Sheila) of Chickasha, Oklahoma and Dweight Speir (Christine) of Cabot; daughter, Nadine Fisher, of Benton; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.H. and Alice Speir; three brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday at Orion Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Landmark Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. 758-1170. Online obituary and guest register at www.nlrfh.com.
