ROY--Hetty Rae Hammon Sly, 68, died at home on Tuesday, July 29, 1997, from complications of diabetes and a stroke. She was born December 31, 1928 in Roy, Utah, a daughter of Heber Grant and Denise Brenchley Hammon.

She graduated from Weber High School and LDS Seminary in 1947. She attended Weber Junior College where she was a member of Phi Rho Pi debating organization. She was also affiliated with Whip Service Club and Otyoka Social Club.

She retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1989 following 31 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints having held callings which included speech director, dance director, and Sunday School teacher.

Hetty enjoyed playing bridge and attending the ballet, opera, and symphony.

Surviving are two daughters Denise Sly and Edith (Rodger) Hanson and three granddaughters. Also surviving are her mother, a brother Dee Jay (Shirley) Hammon, and a sister Catherine (David) Sundwall. She was preceded in death by her father, one brother, Heber Grant Hammon, Jr.; and an infant sister, Leila Elaine Hammon.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
