ERNEST MERRIAM
Ernest Merriam was born June 1, 1883,. in Otsego township, the second child of Chas. and Elizabeth Merriam and died Wednesday night in the University hospital, Ann Arbor.
He spent all of his life in Otsego and vicinity. He was united in marriage with Rose Engles of Trowbridge in January 1905. To this union three children were born, Mrs. Mildred Anderson, Otsego, Lloyd, of Jackson, and Harold of New York City. Besides the immediate family he leaves to mourn his untimely passing, his aged mother, Mrs. Chas. Merriam, two grand children, two brothers, Oscar of Jackson, Herbert of Kalamazoo, and one sister, Mrs. Blanche Merchant of Otsego, and other relatives, besides a large number of friends. He was a member of the Gospel Mission, which he had faithfully served in the capacity of Sunday School superintendent for some time, being the present superintendent at the time of his death. Mr. Merriam was a kind and devoted husband and father, an obliging neighbor and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Funeral was held from Benson's chapel Sunday, Rev. Sander A. Kleis, officiating. Burial in Mountain Home.
