Frederick C. Ashby, 84, of Elbridge passed away peacefully Wednesday at home in the care of his loving wife. Fred was born September 4, 1931 in Elbridge. A life resident of Elbridge, he was a 1949 graduate of Elbridge High School. Fred began his banking career with the former Merchants National Bank and after 31 years he retired 1993 from its successor Onbank. Surviving are his wife, Christina Oddo Ashby; daughter and son in law, Christine and Robert Makai of Liverpool; and two grandchildren, Michelle and Nicole Makai. A graveside service will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours will be private at the Bush Funeral Home 120 E. Main St. (Rt. 5) Elbridge. Contributions may be made to Finger Lakes SPCA in Auburn.
