As a stable boy in Mt Vernon he enlisted in the US Army 1911 at about 15 or 16 yrs old, not clear as he played some shenanigans to get it the Army. Pretty crowded at their home in Mt Vernon, big family small house syndrome.
Served in A Troop 6th Cavalry 7/31/1911 - 7/30/1914
Second enlistment 1/8/1915 thru 6/4/1920.
Went to Galveston Texas for training and his first duty station at Camp Crockett.
Served in Mexico with the 7th & 6th Cav. until 1915 when the outbreak of the Great War. .
Served in Europe until the end of the War.
Received an Honorable Discharge 4 June 1920
Drove an armored car/truck for the US Postal Service
Married to Josephine Spohn of Bronx, NY in 1920.
Father to Elaine Dorothy & Ruth and a fantastic grand father to Judy & Butch K. and Jim & Allan B.
Known as very kind and honest man by all who knew him.
