According to the 1910 Census he immigrated to New York in 1872 from Ireland, and at some point in time made his way to Pennsylvania where he became a naturalized citizen. He was a farmer and was married to Vernie Wyckoff Garrity of Penn. By 1910 they had been married for 24 years and they had 6 children, all born in Michigan of whom 5 were still living and at home in 1910.
