There's confusion over Harriet being the first burial in Oakland Cemetery, some sources attribute the first burial to a child of feed store owner, W. F. Murray. The oldest death date now on any grave in Oakland is that of Phillip A. Stockslagle with a death date of June 1847. It is possible these "first burials" were people first interred in the defunct Fannin Street Cemetery as most burials there were re-interred in Oakland.
