Mrs. Filter Dies At
Norfolk; Funeral
Held At Bazile Mills

Funeral services for Mrs. William F. Filter, 68, were held at Christ Lutheran church, Bazile Mills, Saturday afternoon, with the pastor, the Rev. H. Stegeman, officiating. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery there.

Mrs. Filter died Wednesday January 12, at 4:07 o'clock in the afternoon at the home of her son, Paul Filter in Norfolk. She suffered a paralytic stroke January 2.

Anna Ernestine Elisa Filter was born November 20, 1869 at Ehlow by Wriezen in Germany. With her parents she came to America in 1882, the family locating in the Creighton community. After living with an uncle for a time, they moved to a farm four miles north of Winnetoon.

March 18, 1883 she was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Bazile Mills and remained a member of that church till her passing.

She was married to William F. Filter September 17, 1891 and they made their home on a farm three and a half miles north of Winnetoon. Eight children were born to the couple, three of whom, Martin, Theodor and Gottlieb, with their father preceded Mrs. Filter in death.

In 1922 she left the farm, moving to Bazile Mills, where she lived 11 years, two and a half years ago going to Norfolk to make her home with her son.

Surviving children are three sons and two daughters, William F. Filter of Mitchell, Nebr., Ewald of Winnetoon and Paul of Norfolk, Mrs. J.H. Harrington of Leota, Mo. and Mrs. V.G. Abresch of Rochester, Minn. Also left to mourn her passing are three brothers, Ernest Scheer of Omaha and Gottlieb and George Scheer of Bazile Mills, 22 Grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Filter's passing brings sorrow to the many friends she acquired during her long residence in this community. Devoted to her family and a devout church member, she enjoyed the esteem of all who knew her.
