Roy Lee Reid was the 5th child of Allen Levi Reid and Minnie Clyda Wilson Reid.

Roy served in World War I and married Bessie Fay Gilliland on October 27, 1938.

I talked to Bessie on the phone before she died. She stated that if I visited she would take me "back up" to where my grandfather, George Vernon Reid, is buried. After she passed away, I eventually road my motorcycle to Elk City, Kansas and found my grandfather and great grandparent's graves.

I talked to Roy's son, John Allen Reid on the telephone several times. One conversation lasted over 3 hours. We laughed and laughed at all the Reid stories. There is something about being a Reid, especially when you are one with the middle name "Allen." His son, Timothy Allen Reid and I also talk and work on Reid lineage together. There are many of us with the middle name Allen. We share a grandfather (and great grandfather), Allen Levi Reid. My paternal grandmother's maiden name was also Allen (Fern Allen).

This is very interesting. John and I talked on the phone and I told him about the box of pictures I inherited from my father. I told him a few photos were taken in 1952 at my grandmother Minnie's home. He replied, "that was her birthday party and I was there and I remember your father and his brother, Carl being there." He also stated that it was really something back then that your father and Carl were coming to that party. I said, "wouldn't it be great if I have a picture of you at that party?" There is a photo of my father holding a small boy. Guess who? John Allen Reid. You can't make up a story like that.
