Thana Sears, 65, 3236 Southwest, died Thursday evening at Ball Hospital after a sudden illness.
She was born in Muncie and spent her entire life in the area. She attended schools here and graduated from Central High School in 1934. Mrs. Sears attended Ball State Teachers College (now Ball State University) for two years. She was employed for the past 26 years with the Muncie Sanitary District. She belonged to First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas D. Sears; two sons, Thomas W. Sears, Columbus, and James E. Sears, Muncie; a daughter, Mrs. Sandra K. Burton, Muncie; seven sisters, Rita Fay, Orange, Calif., Arline Tuttle, Hilton Head, S.C., Maxine Conyers, Aline Keller, Phyllis Cavanaugh, Patty Merryweather, and Janet Whitenach, all of Muncie; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Parson Mortuary. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours at the mortuary will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
