Helen B. Achenbach passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday (5-17-08) at St. Paul Homes, Greenville, Pa., her residence of five years. She was formerly of Alcoma Street, Sharon, where she lived with her family for 33 years. She was 89.
Helen was born Saturday, November 30, 1918, in Wheatland Pa., the daughter of Stanley and Teofilia Michniewicz (Mack).
A lifelong area resident, she was an alumna of Farrell High School. Helen was a lifelong member of St. Adalbert Church, Farrell, where she was a member of the Infant of Prague Society and the church bowling league in past years. She was also a member of the "Pedigrees" bowling league and the Sharon Tube Retirees Euchre Club. Helen was an avid cook and baker.
Her husband George W. Achenbach Jr., whom she married on February 14, 1942, passed away on April 10, 1995. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed by her loving family.
She is survived by five daughters: Georganne Timmerman and her husband James, Naples, Fla.; Patricia D. Galie and her husband Ray, Havertown, Pa.; Deborah S. Soxie and her husband Marcus, Hopkinsville, Ky.; Jacqueline Helen Koscheka and her husband Phil, Waldorf, Md.; and Vicki Lynne Achenbach, Deltona, Fla.; two sons, George W. Achenbach III and his wife Susan, Sharon; and Ronald D. Achenbach,
Warren, Ohio; one sister, Joanne Allen and her husband John, Pittsburgh; and 13 grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Tony, Stanley, Victor and William "Red" Mack; and Joseph Michniewicz; and two sisters Sophia (Mona) Vukovich and Anna Michniewicz.
Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
