Wallace William Hanson, the son of the late Clarence and Anna (Taus) Hanson, was born July 1, 1931, at Minneapolis. As a child, he moved with his family to a farm in Huss Township of Roseau County, near Strathcona, where he attended school and grew to manhood. On November 17, 1956, Wallace was united in marriage to Carol Tromsness at the First Lutheran Church in Middle River. They lived in Minneapolis for three years where Wallace was employed as a welder, then moved to a farm southeast of Greenbush. Later, they moved to their present farm in Huss township. Wallace was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and snowmobiling, as well as motorcycles. He very much enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Wallace had been in failing health for the past several months, and passed away at the Roseau Area Hospital on Thursday morning, March 11, at the age of 61 years, eight months and ten days. He is survived by his wife Carol; one son: Dale and his wife Rhonda, of Middle River; four daughters, Claire, Mrs. Ken Frohling, in South Dakota; twins: Lorie, Mrs. Steve Hagen, in MT, and Linda, Mrs. Mitchell Peterson, Strathcona, and Marilyn, Mrs. Dale Novacek, Greenbush; ten grandchildren; two brothers: Roger of Middle River and Russell of Strathcona; one sister, Bernice, Mrs. Charlie Shimpa of Greenbush; in addition to several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Wallace Hanson were held at 10 a.m.Tuesday,March 16, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Thief Lake, near Middle River, with Pastor Robert Amundson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Collins Funeral Home of Middle River in charge of funeral arrangements. Those in attendance served as honorary bearers and casketbearers were: Jack Beito, Alex Ismil, Eddie Hanson, Michael Beito, Roger Wojciechowski, and Joe Gust. The Elwood Beito Family sang "Gone Home" and Eddie Hanson, Vi McKeever and Joyce Beito sang "Gatherng Flowers for the Master's Bouquet", with Pat Hanson at the organ. The congregation sang "How Great thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". A family service was held at 7:30 p.m., Monday evening, at the Collins Funeral Chapel in Middle River.
