Franklin was born in Camden, Maine to Luther Blodgett and Sally Hilyard. Franklin married Martha Taylor, b. 1821 in Lowell, Massachusetts. Together they had six children: Electa Jane, 1840 – 1903; Frances E. Blodgett, b. 1843; William H Blodgett, 1845 – 1910; twin sons, Edward C. and Edwin Blodgett, b. 1849 and Nina Blodgett, b. 1859. Martha died in 1859 and Frankiln moved with the children to Wisconsin. He married his second wife Mary UMN before 1870. Franklin passed away in 1886 in Lucas, Dunn, Wisconsin.
