A.T. Barron

A. T. Barron, 91, died Saturday at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.

Visitation is scheduled for 6pm-8pm Monday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Services will be held 10am Tuesday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial in Poplar Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Barron was a native of Copiah County and had lived here all his life except when he was serving in the US Army during WWII. He was a Mason and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

He will be remembered as a self-effacing son of the soil, so often expressing a desire for the days to be longer so that be could get more work done. He was disdainful of those who lay stress on power, position, or riches as attributes of character. He fears God and studies nature closely, deemed it to be the only perfection visible to us. Work was his first love and Masonry his second. Inspiration for this research was kindled by his long cherished desire for knowledge of his Barron ancestors.

Survivors include: nephew, Barron Robinson of Conyers, GA; nieces, Nelda Sullivan of Crystal Springs and Juanita Melton of Lake Charles, LA; great nephews, Randy Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan, Jamie Grantham and Larry Melton; great nieces, LeAnn Williams, Sonya Presley, Rhonda Robinson and Kristin Lupton; and several great, great nieces and nephews.
