Henry Hall Cary died November 2, 2010 at his home in Old Bohemia. He was born on August 16, 1917 to Richard Miles Cary and Mary Ethel Wright Cary and was decended from one of the early Pensacola families. At age 8, he attended Junior Military Academy in Bloomington Springs, TN. He graduated from the Sewanee Military Academy. Henry was awarded a Bachelors of Art degree from University of Florida where he also was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He was the President and Manager of Cary and Company. He was awarded a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of West Florida. Henry was the President of the Downtown Pensacola Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was associated with the Rehabilitation Institute of West Florida and was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Rehabilitation Foundation of Northwest Florida. He was a charter member of the University of West Florida Foundation, as well as one of the founding members of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Gonzalez Cary; a son, John and his wife Joan and their three sons, Patrick, Stephen and Robert; a daughter, Sally and her three children, Withnell, Henry and Cary. He has many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:30am Friday, November 5, 2010 until a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Fr. Doug Halsema celebrant. Burial follows at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Patrick, Stephen and Robert Cary, Henry Cary, Stephen Quina and Taylor Biggs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice, Milton Branch, 6479 Caroline Street, Suite B, Milton, FL 32570; St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1700 Conway Drive, Pensacola, FL 32503 or a charity of your choice.
