Former Well Known Resident Passes Away
Charles Pefly, a former resident of this community died at the Rensselaer hospital Sunday afternoon following a surgical operation.
Charles Pefly was born in Benton county, about 12 miles southeast of Remington on January 13, 1871, the son of James and Barbara Ann Pefly. He was a member of a family of 7 children, five of whom preceded him in death. He moved to Remington with his parents in 1875, where he attended the public schools. Following his eductaional training he entered the implement business with his father until he was twenty-one years of age. For some years he was engaged in the carriage painting trade and also engaged in the buying and selling of raw and dressed furs. He was married to Daisy Warner, of Rensselaer on March 6, 1899. Mrs. Pefly passed away on April 17, 1944. In 1916 the family moved to Rensselaer, where Mr. Pefly was engaged in the fur business.
Surviving is a son Hildred, two grandchildren, Charles Philip Pefly, and Julie Estelle Pefly, and one brother. Frank Pefly, of Denver, Colo.
Funeral services were conducted from the W.J. Wright Chapel at Rensselaer on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. Earl Moore officiating. Burial was made in the Remington cemetery.
