STANTON EUGENE "GENE" FRITZ was born April 19, 1931, in Grinnell, Iowa, and passed away on June 16, 2010.Gene graduated from high school in 1949 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. He served in Guam and California in the Naval Air Branch. He married Barbara Moore in 1957 and graduated from Iowa State University in 1960. He was employed by Shell Oil Company from 1960 to 1988 working in both New York City and Houston. He was a member of Cypress United Methodist Church and the Cypress Masonic Lodge #1423. He was also 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Clifford Fritz and Margaret Moyle Fritz; a sister, Barbara Selzer; a daughter, Laura Serene Fritz; and a son, Gregory Dee Fritz. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara; son, Martin Christopher (Amy) Fritz; grandsons, Zachary and Nicholas Fritz; brothers, Richard M. (Berneice) Fritz and Willis C. (Dodie) Fritz; and numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 20, at Klein Funeral Home, CyFair Northwest. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 21, at Cypress United Methodist Church,13403 Cypress N. Houston Rd., Houston 77429, with interment to follow in Klein Memorial Park on SH 249, Pinehurst. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cypress United Methodist Church or Masonic Lodge #1423 of Cypress.
