"Anaheim, Calif. -– Roy Cornelius Cranmer, 74, was called home to be with the Lord at 5 a.m. Sunday, April 2, 2000, at his home.

Born March 12, 1926, in Assumption , Illinois, he was a son of Beatrice Cranmer of Roxana, IL and the late Lloyd Cranmer. She survives. His sister, Mary Steed also survives. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Donald Cranmer.

Roy was a navy veteran of World War II, and served two years as a Roxana police officer. He and his family lived in Arcola, and he was a chemist and Plant Manager at USI in Tuscola and Anaheim for more than 40 years. His finest work was for the Lord. He began ministering to Hispanic workers in Arcola in 1967, and began the Iglesia Del Nazareno church in Arcola in 1983. After a transfer to Anaheim in 1990, he became involved in various aspects on ministry to Hispanics there including assistant pastor of the Anaheim First Church of the Nazarene Hispanic congregation. He became a volunteer for World Relief, aiding numerous people from Mexico and Central America to come to the United States.

He married the former Ruth Colyar in 1946. She survives. Also surviving are: daughter, Cathy and husband Randy Dalby and grandchildren Aaron and Justin of Mattoon, son Michael and wife Kathy and grandchildren Amy, Erin, and Kaycee of Denver, CO, daughter Nora and husband David Zaring and grandchildren Micahel and Paul of Danvers, IL, son David and wife Karen Earley of Minneapolis, MN, and grandson Ben, many nieces and nephews, an extended family and thousands of friends all over the world.

A memorial service was held on April 8, 2000 at the Anaheim First Church of the Nazarene, and a memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at the East Side Church of the Nazarene in Mattoon.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, World Relief, or Roy's favorite project, the Nazarene Bible Institute in Tecate, Mexico."
