WORLD WAR VETERAN AND PROMINENT CITIZEN PASSES

Goldsboro, Aug. 6.-James Clarence Crone, 41, prominent Goldsboro citizen and World War veteran, died at his home on North Lionel Street af 6 o'clock Thursday morning following an illness of many weeks of uremic poisoning and high blood pressure. He was brought to his home in Goldsboro Saturday night at his; request after having undergone treatment for three weeks in a veterans hospital at Kecaughtan, Va. Physicians had held out no hope for his recovery.

Mr. Crone was a native of Goldsboro. During the World War he was First sergeant in Comapny D, 322nd Infantry and served over seas for 12 months. He was a charter member of Wayne post of the American Legion, a past commander and former, chaplain of the post, and a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps.
He was a member of the official board of St. Paul Methodist Church, general secretary of the Sunday School, and active in all work of the church. He had been for many years an ofifce executive with the
A. T. Griffin Manufacturing Company.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bertha Crone, and four children, James, Ernest, Marie, and Charles Crone; two brothers, George W. Crone of Raleigh, and John W. Crone of Goldsboro; and one sister, Mrs. A T. Fiehelly of Washington, D. C.

Funeral services will be conducted from St. Paul Methodist Church at 5:30 o'clock Friday afternoon by the pastor, the Rev. O. W. Dowd.Interment will be in Willow Dale flasher post The members of the Wayne post of the American Legion will attend the services in body as honorary pallbearers. The members of the Drum and Bugle Corps will also attend in a body as honorary pallbearers, and in uniform.

Other honorary pallbearers will be A. T. Griffin, Sr., E. A. Griffin, A. T. Griffin, Jr., Dr. C. F. Strosnider. Dr. Edward Bizzell, and Dr. D. B. Cobb, T. J. Casey, F. B. Mckinns
L. M. Davis, and Herbert Andrews.

Active pallbearers wil be a. H.C Selby, R. E. Stevens, Louis Hum. mell, Leslie Gardner, Clennon Dees.
Capt. Z. G. Hololwell, A. N. Mosby. and C. E. Worley. Members of the American Legion Auxiliary will serve as flower bearers.
