MRS. W.A. ROBERSON DIES AT AGE OF 92
A long and useful career came to and end on last Saturday, Aug. 19 at 8:00 o'clock in the evening when Mrs W.A. Roberson passed to her reward. She was born in Tenn. on January 16, 1858, being 92 years, 7 months and 3 days of age at the time of her homecoming. Funeral services were held at the Bunyan Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Manning officiating. He was assisted by Rev. L.E. Barrett, Rev. J.A. Bays, Rev. R.A Long, Rev. Loyd B. McGinnis and Mr. T.H. Harrell all old friends of the deceased.
Mrs. Joanna Wood Oakley Roberson, a native of Tennessee, was married to W.A. Roberson on Sept. 26, 1875 and came to Erath County in 1891. To this union were born 11 children, one, James T. Roberson died in 1877. Her husband preceded her in death in 1930.
Those surviving her are the children: Mary Nolia Carter, Denton; Nora Gryder, Calvin Roberson, Josie Gryder, Maud Rustin, Russell Roberson, Miss Gladys Roberson of Dublin; Virgil Roberson of Denton; Dewey Roberson of Crosbyton and Allen Roberson of Amherst, Texas; thirty grandchildren and forty-nine Great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two step grandchildren, 8 great step grandchldren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Interment was made in the Bunyan cemetery under the direction of Harrell Funeral home.
