Poseyville News---November 19, 1887:
Mrs. Sarah Beckley (nee Sarah Sanders), wife of Henry Beckley, died on Monday last after an illness of but few days. She was always a healthy woman and until the Angel of Death called the spirit of Sarah Beckley away hardly knew what sickness was. Her condition was not considered critical until Sunday morning. Dr. L.A. Glase was called in. When told she could live but a short time she said she was prepared to meet her maker, who createth and judgeth all things as they should be. She was a devoted member of the Griffin Church, where her presence will be greatly missed. Her death falls severely on her aged and invalid mother, who has lost her heart's care, the light of her life, being the only daughter. Not a wish was left ungratified, and a joyous, winsome, laughing existence was her's. She was a loving wife and mother. It seems hard that one who was surrounded by all that was worth living for should be snatched so suddenly away. The remains were brought to this place on Tuesday and an immense throng of relatives and friends attended the funeral service at the M.E. church conducted by her pastor James of Oakland City. All that was mortal being deposited in the Stewartsville Cemetery.
