Hobert Edwin Ragsdale of Port Richey, Florida, died Aug. 29 at North Bay Medical Center in New Port Richey. He was 88. Born Nov. 27, 1913 in Pittsboro, he was a son of the late Lora Ray and Nellie Mabel (Randle) Ragsdale. He married Velma Beatrice (Muston) Ragsdale Nov. 4, 1933. She preceded him in death. He married Maud Erma (Trent) Ragsdale July 13, 1985. She survives.

Mr. Ragsdale was a 1933 graduate of Pittsboro High School. He worked much of his life as a farmer in Hendricks County. He also worked several years at the Brownsburg Locker Plant and 16 years as a butcher at the Brownsburg IGA Food Store before retiring.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in New Port Richey. He was also active in park activities at the Sun Coast Gateway Mobile Home Village in Florida, was formerly a 4-H leader in Middle Township in Hendricks County and was a former member of the Pittsboro Lions Club.

Additional survivors include children Diana Ball of Danville, Paul Ragsdale of Waldorf, Maryland, James Ragsdale of Pittsboro and John Ragsdale of Plainfield; step-daughters Tamarah Sherrard of Duncan, Oklahoma and Sammy Ray Schaekel of Tuttle, Oklahoma; a brother, Herman Ragsdale of Pittsboro; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Myers Chapel of Memories in Lebanon with the Rev. Steven Newman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
