Nancy Louise nee Senior Glascock was born to Colin Frank Senior and Frances Louise Head on November 3, 1937 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville, Appanoose County, Iowa. Nancy was the second of four children, the other children being Franklin Colin born December 29, 1935, Colin Campbell born April 5, 1942 and Thomas Lawrence born March 26, 1944.
Nancy grew up in her hometown of Centerville at her parents home located at 817 West Maple Street. Nancy attended grade school, junior high and high school in Centerville. Nancy was active in the First Presbyterian Church throughout her childhood.
While Nancy attended Centerville High School she was a member of the Spanish Club, National Honor Society and was a baton twirler in the high school marching band. During summers, Nancy was a life guard at the Centerville swimming pool. Following high school, Nancy attended Christian College in Columbia, Missouri, in the fall of 1956. During her freshman year, Nancy met Mr. Homer H. Glascock II, the son of a gentleman farmer and State Farm Insurance agent from Rensselaer, Missouri who was a graduate student in Physics at the University of Missouri. They fell in love and their engagement was soon announced. Nancy went on to finish her sophomore year and graduate from Christian College with an Associate of Arts degree. Following her graduation, she and Homer were united in marriage at a ceremony conducted in Columbia on June 29, 1958 by Homer's brother-in-law, Sherwood McKee.
Homer and Nancy continued to reside in Columbia while Homer completed his doctorate in solid state physics, which he obtained in 1960. On September 6, 1959, Nancy gave birth prematurely to their first child, Homer Hopson Glascock III at Boone County Hospital in Columbia.
After his graduation, Homer accepted a position with General Electric at their Research Center in Schenectady, New York. On January 11, 1961, a second son was born to Nancy and Homer. Colin Frank Glascock was born at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, Schenectady County, New York. Colin also was premature but not to the extent that Homer III was.
During their years in Scotia, Nancy and Homer became active in the East Glenville Community Church where Nancy became a Deaconess. Nancy was also involved in local charity with the City Mission and other charities as well as volunteering their time at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
On April 26, 1969, Nancy gave birth to their third son and final child, Thomas Dodd. Tom was also born at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Tom and both of his older brothers were encouraged to become active in Scouting by their parents and all three achieved Eagle Scout Rank. All of the family were active hikers and mountain climbers, climbing many of the highest peaks in the Adirondacks and the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire
Nancy was a devoutly religious individual and an excellent wife and mother. She tried working outside of the home from time to time but realized that her primary mission in life was to serve her Lord and her family. She reared three very fine individuals who have become active and productive members of our society. Homer is an electrical engineer with Texas Utilities in Dallas, Colin is a medical doctor (anesthesiologist) in Glens Falls, New York and Tom is a lawyer in New York City. Tom supplemented his legal degree with an MBA from the University of Tennessee. Colin, in fact, received his bachelors and masters in Mechanical Engineering prior to earning his PhD in Medicine.
Nancy lost her life in an automobile accident on a wintry December evening in 1987. the evening of her older brother Franklin's birthday on December 29th. Nancy's death was a tragic loss to her family and to her community. Nancy's funeral was conducted at the East Glenville Community Church by a close friend and former pastor of the church, Rev. Daniel Wray. All of the arrangements were made by her two older sons, Homer III and Colin since her husband was still suffering from injuries received in the collision and from the personal devastation that he was going through. After the funeral in New York, Nancy went back home to the Midwest one last time for a second funeral service in Hannibal at the Big Creek Presbyterian Church. Nancy was laid to rest in Big Creek Cemetery in Rensselaer near the Big Creek Presbyterian Church where the Glascock family worshipped.
