Erma was born on July 5,1904 in Heber City, Utah. Her parents were Joseph R. and Margaret Wright Dixon Murdock. She attended Provo City schools and graduated from Brigham Young Academy. On October 27, 1927, she married Rulon Sterling Dixon in the Salt Lake Temple. The ceremony was performed by David O. Mackay. Erma and Rulon had four sons: James R. Dixon, Joseph M. Dixon, G. Michael Dixon, and Peter M.Dixon. Her husband preceeded her in death in 1965.
