Nevils - Mr. Alton White, age 87, died Saturday at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. The Bulloch County native lived in the Nevils Community most of his life. He was a lifelong member of the Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a retired farmer.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Bertie Akins White of Nevils; two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Randall Taylor of Statesboro and Patty and Frank Copeland of Nevils; a son and daughter-in-law, Palmer and Judy White of Nevils; a sister, Carleen Mahaffey of McDonough; two brothers, Bernie White of Pooler and Edsel White of Cascade, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elders Jack Anderson and W.I. Tidwell Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony White, John White, Douglas Copeland, Allen Brannen, Jason Lupton and Lee Lupton. Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
