WASHINGTON, IL - Mary J. Stroup, 84, of Washington Christian Village, formerly of Bellevue, died at 10:38 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at the nursing home.

Born Feb. 16, 1926, in Peoria to Clair and Ida Mae Craven Curtiss, she married Rev. William L. G. Moore in 1945. She then married Clyde Edward Stroup in 1951 in Peoria. He died in 1968 in Peoria.

Mary also was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and one grandson.

She is survived by three sons, David G. Moore of Neoga, Clyde E. Stroup, Jr. of Philadelphia, and Lester L. Stroup of Peoria; three daughters, Sue Ellen Mills, Mary Jane Kelly, both of Peoria, and Elizabeth A. Bucholc of Morton; two stepdaughters, Patricia A. Sharp and Priscilla J. Peterson, both of Peoria; and two sisters, Mildred Norene Pedrick of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Dorothy Jeannette Kopman of Beecher, Ill. Fourteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.

Mary once worked as an LPN at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was a member of Church of God Holiness.

Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
