Jacob Hansen Rites Tuesday --
Mr. Hansen died Saturday evening at the Lutheran hospital in Grand Island after a lengthy illness.

Jacob Christian Hansen, son of Andrew and Johanna (Mathiesen) Hansen, was born Oct. 23, 1894 on a farm in Merrick County, Nebraska near the town of Palmer. He departed this life on August 12, 1972 at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 12 days. At an early age he moved with his family to the Wolbach area where he resided during the remaining years of his life.

He married the former Agnes Petersen on May 19, 1917 at St. Paul, Nebraska. To this union were born four children, two daughters and two sons.

The couple farmed in the Wolbach area until 1935 when they moved into town. He operated the Hansen Grocery in Wolbach from 1946 to 1956. Mrs. Hansen died in March of 1956. He served as mayor of Wolbach from 1956-57. Mr. Hansen did many painting jobs in the area and also was a substitute rural mail carrier for many years before ill health forced him to retire.

He was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, having served many years as church treasurer.

Preceding him in death were his wife, a daughter, two sons, his parents and one sister.

Besides his many friends and relatives he leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter, Mrs. Elvina Studley of Grand Island, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, Hans of Grand Island.
