Mr. Joel Vernon Day, age 81, of 330 Alcova St. Monroe died on March 28, 1985 due to declining health.

Funeral services were held on March 29 in the Chapel of Arthur Bowick Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Forrester officiated and intermnet was in Hill Haven Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Robert Leach, Sterling Nix, Thomas Hudgins, Curtiss Conner, Deland Roberts and Kevin Barrett.

Born in Rockdale County June 12, 1903, Mr. Day had lived in Monroe for the past ten years. The son of the late John Day and Mary Mann Day. Mr. Day was a retired health products salesman and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Navy and U. S. Army.

He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. R. D. (Opal) Conner of Monroe Ga. and Mrs. William (Millie) Dunn of Gig Harbor, Wash.; two sisters: Mrs. Bessie Johnson of Covington, Ga. and Mrs. Robert (Phena) Johnson of Atlanta, a brother: Hoke Day of Clanton, Ala.; two grandchildren: Mrs. Tommy Hudgins and Chris Conner both of Monroe; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arthur Bowick Inc. Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Joel Vernon Day.
