Virginia Pitts, 90, of Three Rivers, Mich., and Winter Haven, Fla., died Saturday, October 23 at Countryside Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

She was born December 4, 1919 in Princeton, Mich. to Battista and Erma (Catto) Sangalli. Virginia married Donald Pitts Sr. She served her country in the Womens Army Corps during World War II. She worked as a sales clerk at various retail stores in Michigan and Florida. Virginia was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Three Rivers and St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven. She was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed her rose garden.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Donald Pitts Sr., who died in 1999; two sisters – Mary DalPonte, and Louise Clipfell; and brother, Bill Sangalli.

She is survived by her son, Don "Skip" (Teresa) Pitts of South Haven, Mich.; two grandchildren – Charisse O"Connor of Portage, Mich., and Donald "Casey" Pitts III of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers – Peter (Pat) Sangalli of Richland, Mich., and Jerry (Dorothy) Sangalli of Three Rivers, Mich.; and one sister, Florence (Chet) Dall Pote of Three Rivers, Mich.

A Memorial Mass was held on Thursday, October 28, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Three Rivers, Mich. with Rev. Father Mark Vyderman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Her final resting place will be in the National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell Gardens, Fla.
