Born in 1905 as Bernice Wilda Speer, to William H. Speer and his wife, Nellie Naves Speer.

Bernice was a Broadway theatre actress who appeared in "Earl Carroll's Vanities" in 1926, "The Cocoanuts" with the Marx Brothers in 1925, and "The Rise of Rosie O'Reilly" as Annie in 1923.

She was married to comedian Bert Wheeler of Wheeler and Woolsey from 1928-1936. They had one daughter, Patricia.

Bernice often used the stage name "Audray Myland," and later offically changed her name. Audray Myland is the name on her headstone.
