Obit for W.G. Armstrong:

W.G. "Bill" Armstrong, 90, of Livingston, died on Tuesday evening, March 27, 2007 at Livingston Memorial Hospital. Bill was born on September 19, 1916 in Wilsall to Robert Oliver and Alice Martha (Williams) Armstrong. When he was 6 years old, the family moved to Mill Creek in Paradise Valley.

On June 2, 1946, Bill married Mary Elizabeth Perry in Livingston. The couple continued to work the family farm until 1948, when they mvoed to Mammoth, Yellowstone National Park, where Bill began his career with the Nation Park Service, which lasted until his retirement in 1980. Bill and Mary raised four children. They moved to Livingston after their retirement. For the past several years, Bill has been lovingly cared for by his friend Helen Wolfe.

His survivors include three children and their spouses; one daughter in law; two sisters, Eldean Schleicher and Doris Caruso; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Oliver and Alice Martha (Williams) Armstrong; his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Perry) Armstrong in 1989; brothers, Roy, Elmer, Leland and Kenneth and his son Donald Armstrong.

Funeral service's were held on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Franzen Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. William Young of Gardiner Community Church officiating. The song "The Prayer" was played by pianist Andrew Larsen. Recorded musical selection was "The Rose" by Bette Midler. Casket bearers were Edward Armstrong, Russell Armstrong, David Armstrong, Clint Armstrong, Tyler Armstrong and Curt Larsen. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside committal and burial followed in Mountain View Cemetery in Livingston. A bagpipe solo of "Amazing Grace" was played by Gregg Heath graveside.

If desired, memorial donations may be directed to the Boy Scouts of America Montana Council.
