Theresa was born in Pennsylvania, the 9th child of Francis and Elizabeth Fantz. About 1867 the family traveled by covered wagon to Illinois. She was orphaned at an early age, her father died when she was 5/ 1/2 and her mother when she was 7. She was first a nurse and studied to be a doctor in the 1890s. In 1905 Denver City Directory, she is listed as Physician with an office in the Oxford Hotel Building. She was never married and is buried beside her sister Mary (Fantz) Swallow.
