Golden Wedding Anniversary is observed by Mr. and Mrs. Cox.
Mr. and Mrs Richard Cox, 248 East Washington Ave. observed their golden wedding anniversary Saturday. They will celebrate with a family dinner on Sunday. Both Mr. and Mrs. Cox were born in Tennessee and were married in Knoxville in Anderson County in that state on August 8, 1886. in 1892 they went to Texas and from their to Oklahoma in 1901, where they homesteaded. They came to Longmont in 1914 and now reside in this city, although they have lived for several years in Utah. They have five daughters, Mrs William Reed, Mrs T.R.Newton, Mrs Joe Buckles, Mrs Philip Persons, and Mrs Charles Winder, all of whom reside in Longmont. there are seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren living. All the daughters and their families will be present at a dinner Sunday at the Cox home. Mrs Cox is sixty-nine and Mr Cox is seventy-two years of age.
Richard Cox dies suddenly at home here
Richard Cox, 77-year-old retired farmer, died in his sleep as the result of a heart attack early Friday morning at his home, 248 East Washington Avenue. Mr. Cox was born at Knoxville, Tennessee, June 21, 1866, and came to Longmont from Utah in 1936. he held membership in the Masonic and Eastern Star orders at Miton, Utah, and the Odd Fellows lodge at Hammond, Oklahoma. Left to mourn his passing are five daughters, Mrs. W.D.Reed, Mrs. T.R. Newton, Mrs. Joe Buckles, Mrs. Phillip Persons and Mrs. Sally Winder, all of Longmont. 1 brother and 1 sister of Knoxville, Tenn. seventeen grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren are also living. time of the funeral services will be announced later.

Cox funeral services held
The Prohs funeral home was filled with friends Tuesday afternoon, who came to pay their respects to the memory of the departed, at the last rites held for Richard Cox who passed away December 24. Rev D.I.Hammond conducted the service. Mrs. E.L.Lutes and Mrs. H.B. Saxton sang duet arrangements of "beautiful garden of prayer" and "the unclouded day" with Mrs. E.L. Moore at the console of the organ. The escorts were, George and Frank Reed, Thomas and John Newton, William Persons, and Martin Winder. At the grave in Mt. View cemetery the Longmont lodge of Odd Fellows conducted their usual ritualistic ceremony performed for a departed member. the floral tribute was large and beautiful.

On 19 January 1920 Richard Cox purchased a farm near Fort Duchesne, Utah for $725.00 from Oran Mountain Sheep and Della H. Sheep, both members of the Uncompahgre Ute Native tribe. Richard Cox sold the farm on 20 May 1939 to Richard Hamilton for $600.00.
The farm was 40 acres and located in the SE1/4 of the SE1/4, of Section 21, Township 3S, Range 1E., U.S.M. The GPS coordinates of the home are believed to be 40.200468; -109.881104 with out buildings located at 40.202447; -109.881639.

On 9 January 1928 Richard Cox purchased a farm near Fort Duchesne, Utah, for $1.00 and other good and valuable considerations, from Bryson P. Blair of Phoenix, Arizona.
Richard Cox sold that farm on May 27, 1939, to Earl Eggleston for $1,000.00
The farm was 40 acres located in the NW1/4 of the NE1/4 of Section 28; Township 3S, Range 1E, U.S.M.
