Frances Lorene Boyd Burbridge passed away in Spokane, Wash. She was born in Joseph to Frank A. and Lora Shinn Boyd. She was the granddaughter of John Oliver and Placidia Watson Boyd and Robert and Rosetta Shinn who were early pioneers in Wallowa County.

She attended the Enterprise schools (Class of '39) and Eastern Oregon College of Education in La Grande. During World War II, she served in the Women's Army Corp stateside and in Europe.

She married Edgar E. Burbridge in 1949 in Greeley, Colo. They both worked 30 years for the Federal Civil Service at Air Force Training Bases in Texas, New York and Colorado.

After retirement in 1981, they traveled extensively in the U.S. in their RV and worldwide with tour groups. Their travels abroad often included her sister Roberta and her husband, Jack Johnson.

Frances and Edgar moved to Riverview Retirement Center in Spokane in 2002. He died in 2003.

Survivors include a brother, Gene K. (Charlene) Boyd and their family, Lori and Larry Holstein, Don and Connie Boyd, Linda and Dave Robinson, Jon and Maree Boyd, Paul and Sandra Boyd and Philip and Shelly Boyd; and six great-grand nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held in Longmont, Colo., and at the Prairie Creek Cemetery near Joseph this summer.
