He served as officer in charge of LCT in Pacific Ocean. He taught math and coached all sports at Clarke County High for 4 years, and taught math at George Mason High in Falls Church for 34 years.
He was a member and treasurer of the Good Samaritan Class of First United Methodist Church in Winchester; Eagles aerie # 824, American Legion post 21 and past member of Moose Lodge. He was director of Apple Federal Credit Union for 42 years.
He married Thelma Edwards on August 16th, 1952 in Hagerstown, MD.
Surviving along with his wife of Winchester, are three children, Deborah A. Rockwell of Winchester and Scott E. Rockwell of Shepherdstown, WV and Mark A. Rockwell of Manassas, VA; six grandchildren, Jason Brown and wife Christina, Gena Rockwell, Blaine Rockwell, Scott Pomeroy, Jim Pomeroy and Christy Pomeroy; two great grandchildren, Trinity and Noah Brown; Also sisters Janet Grove of Winchester and Irene Johnston of Wardensville, WV.
Mr. Rockwell was preceded in death by one brother, John S. Rockwell Jr.
He spent his retirement years doing the things he loved to do, attending church, fishing, hunting and traveling.
