Funeral services over the remains of James Andrew Bothwell, whose death was mentioned in these columns last week, were held from the Presbyterian Church of this city on Friday afternoon of last week. Dr. L. C. Cooley officiating. Remains were laid to rest in the Cooperstown Cemetery. Death occurred at his home west of Walum suddenly last Wednesday afternoon.


James Andrew Bothwell was born near Richmond, in the province of Quebec, Canada, on November 23, 1850, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bothwell and on of a family of eleven children. He was the last survivor of six sisters and five brothers of this family circle.


At the age of thirty years he moved to Griggs County, where he has since made his home. At first the family lived on a farm 12 miles northwest of this city, but in 1908 they moved to the farm four miles west of Walum, where he made his home up to the time of his death.


Three children were born in the home, two sons and a daughter, one son, Andrew, passing away two years ago. His wife died in 1916. Surviving are two children, W. W. Bothwell of Walum and Mrs. E. E. Down of this city, besides four grandchildren; Eugene

Markwood who made his home with him on the farm at the time of his death, Mrs.

J. Edward Ballenger of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Wayne W. Bothwell and Lillian

Joyce Bothwell.
