COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Haskell Peek (Hack) Burgess, 90, of Cookeville, will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 29, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3-9 p.m., today, Thursday, Jan. 28, at the funeral home.

Mr. Burgess died on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Jan. 30, 1908, in Putnam County, to the late Winfield and Martha Franklin Burgess. Mr. Burgess was a retired carpenter and a member of Bussell Church of Christ.

His family includes his wife, Avo Herren Burgess of Cookeville; a daughter, Doris Helen Nash of Baxter; a son, Donnie V. Burgess of Cookeville; five grandchildren, Terry Burgess of Cookeville, Freddie Burgess of California, Timothy Burgess of Gallatin, Reece Nash of Baxter, and Camilla Brown of Baxter; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Cleo Whittaker; and five brothers, Carl, Dave, Ernest, Burnest, and Arvil Burgess.

Pallbearers will be Randall Herron, Doyle Whitaker, Jimmy, Paul, Fred, Doug, Dennis, Jerry, Donny, and J.D. Burgess. Bros. Glenn B. Ramsey and Joseph C. Britt Jr. will officiate at the services
