She married Charles M. Hocking on Oct. 30, 1852 in Mason County, Illinois.
They had seven children together.
Survived by six children: Fletcher J. Hocking, Mrs. Mattie Burnett, J. J. Hocking (James L. Hocking), Mrs. Lora Sutton, R. H. Hocking, and Charles M. Hocking.
Preceded by a daughter, Mary.

Note: that Martha Hocking's obit seemed to have several errors in it. An later article on her husband, said Mary died in 1879. In this same article in the Jacksonville Daily Journal on July 14, 1915, it stated their Charles M. Hocking went to California several years ago and has not been heard from. It also lists Lora as Mrs. Laura Austin who lived in Kansas. And that Richard and James were twins.
