Mrs. Bateman was born November 9, 1927 in Rexburg, Idaho, a daughter of James LaVon and Hazel Catherine Murdock McKinlay. She was married to Glendon Hall Bateman on November 19, 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple. They moved to Provo in 1967 from Richland, Washington. Together they had 5 children.
Mrs. Bateman was active in the community and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was an active member of the LDS Church.
She is survived by 4 children: Sharon (Scott) Haines, Marilyn (Richard) Gardner, Tracy Bateman, and Scott (Kristi) Bateman. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Beverly Booth; Don Thorup; granddaughter, Amberley Jean Bateman; daughter-in-law, Nancy Bateman; and brother, LaVon McKinlay.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Spring Creek 3rd Ward Chapel, 55 North Main, Springville. Friends may call at Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 E. Center, Thursday evening from 6 until 8 and at the church Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Fort Douglas Military Cemetery, Salt Lake City, UT.
