Her death certificate gives her father's surname as Brookshsire and her mother's as Lamb. Brookshire Family Records say Anna's mother's name was Margaret and that Margaret and children, Emsle and Anna, came to Henry Co., IN from N.C. about 1827; walking most of the way. In the records of the 29th session of the White river conference of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ, which met at Daleville, IN in September 1874 is found..."The first woman to present herself to White River Conference seeking admission to its membership appeared as an applicant, by the recommendation of her quarterly conference, in the person of Mrs. Anna Bailey...the committee on applicants submitted the following report..."We recommend that Sister Anna Bailey receive the following commendation: To All Whom It May Concern: This is to certify that Anna Bailey is a worthy, and acceptable preacher of the gospel of Christ, and we hereby recommend her as such so long as her life and conduct acord with the same." Signed by (ministers) C.W. Witt, M. Wright, W. Hall Committee.

Incidentally M. Wright, Rev. Milton Wright, was the father of Wilbur and Orville Wright.
