OBITUARY
Funeral services for Christian BABITZKE, pioneer resident of western Oklahoma and of Lipscomb county, were held on Tuesday, October 5 at the First Methodist Church in Higgins, and burial was in St. John's Lutheran cemetery at Lipscomb.
Rev. Walter A. Haefker, pastor of the Lutheran Church at Shattuck, was in charge of the rites.
Mr. BABITZKE, who was 89 years of age, died at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck on October 2.
He was a native of Russia, born in Eigenfeldt on February 16, 1876, and was married there on November 5, 1901, to Christiana KOCH, who preceded him in death. He came to America on March 12, 1902, settling in western Oklahoma near Shattuck, living there for 13 years before moving to Lipscomb, Texas.
In 1946 the BABITZKEs loved to Higgins, and have lived there since.
Mr. BABITZKE is survived by six sons, T. C. of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; Bert and Christ Jr. of Canadian; Paul and Henry of Booker; and Ben of Higgins; five daughters, Dollie LONGHOFER of Claude, Emma SCHNEIDER of Gage, Valentine SCHOENHALS of Lipscomb, Arita ANTHONY of Spearman, and Erna BEARD of Plainview.
Also surviving are 35 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, two nephews and three nieces. All of the grandchildren except five were in Higgins for the funeral rites.
